Core Shifter w/ Hurst stick for Ford Ranger : 1983-1987 (TK4 & TK5)

Short throw shifter kit for OE replacement on 4 & 5 speed manual trans in:

  • 1983-1984 Ford Ranger - gas engines only (plastic shifter base)
    • Does NOT FIT diesel engines (aluminum shifter base)
  • 1985-1987 Ford Ranger - all 2wd + most 4 cyl 4x4 (check trans code)
    • Does NOT FIT 4x4 w/ V6 or diesel
  • 1984 Ford Bronco II
    • SOME 1985-1987 Bronco II COULD have this trans but MOST have FM145; check trans BEFORE you buy!

ONLY FITS Toyo Kogyo TK4 & TK5 manual trans specific to these gas models - trans code "X" or "5" on door tag, identified by the following features:

  • Rectangular shifter base bolt pattern (78mm wide x 65mm long)
    • Ribbed cast aluminum finned oil pan w/ 14 bolts & drain plug at corner
      • YELLOW plastic OE shifter base
  • WARNING: LOOK at second pic BEFORE you buy!!!
    • Does NOT FIT FM145 (trans code "D"), TK4D (diesel 4 speed), other model years, or any other model

Select from three different shifter sticks:

  • For trucks w/ stock body frame bushings (no spacers):
    • #7436 (flat); knob is 2" left of OE
      • 16" from base flange to top of knob; 39% throw reduction
    • #7438 (round); knob is 1.5" left of OE
      • 16.6" from base flange to top of knob; 38% throw reduction
  • For trucks w/ aftermarket body lift (body-to-frame mount spacers) > 2":
    • #0085 (flat, tall); knob is 4" higher than OE
      • 20" from base flange to top of knob; 25% throw reduction

Kit includes a Hurst chrome stick & classic knob, Core Shifters base, lower bushing cup, mounting hardware, and installation instructions. The base is built by Core Shifters using proven Hurst Billet Plus components inside a custom housing:

  • High-strength billet steel gear selector stub
  • Hardened steel cross-pin & stainless steel fulcrum pivot ring
  • Self-centering cross-gate bias springs with heat treated spring seats
  • Glass-reinforced polyamide fulcrum socket with steel wear clips
  • Rubber oil control seal with steel retaining ring
  • Extruded aluminum housing with Spirolox steel support ring
  • CNC-machined billet aluminum base
  • Zinc-plated laser-cut steel cover
  • Zinc-plated steel retaining bolts with toothed lockwashers
