Short throw shifter kit for OE replacement on 5 speed manual trans in:

  • 1988-1990 Ford Ranger - 2.9L V6 only
    • Does NOT FIT other engines (M5R1)
  • 1988-1990 Ford Bronco II - all

ONLY FITS Mitsubishi FM132 (2wd) & FM146 (4x4) gearboxes specific to Ford trucks:

  • Trans code "D" on door tag
  • Case tag ID codes E87A-AEA, E87A-AEB, E97A-MA, F07A-EA, F07A-KA
    • Metal shifter flange (no plastic housing) w/ square 4-bolt pattern
      • Stamped steel oil pan w/ 12 bolts & drain plug at center
        • Non-removable shifter stick (part of lever)
  • Replaces FoMoCo #E8TZ-7210-P
    • Does NOT FIT other model years or any other model

Choose from three different sticks:

  • For trucks w/ stock body frame bushings (no spacers):
    • #8009 (flat, HURST branded)
      • 15" from base flange to top of knob; 41% throw reduction
    • #7438 (round, PLAIN - NOT a Hurst part)
      • 15" from base flange to top of knob; 39% throw reduction
  • For trucks w/ aftermarket body lift (body-to-frame mount spacers) > 2":
    • #0085 (flat, tall, PLAIN - NOT a Hurst part); knob is 3" higher than OE
      • 18" from base flange to top of knob; 27% throw reduction

Kit includes chrome stick, classic knob, base assembly, lower bushing cup, hardware, and installation instructions. The base is built by Core Shifters using proven components inside a custom housing:

  • High-strength billet steel gear selector stub
  • Hardened steel cross-pin & stainless steel fulcrum pivot ring
  • Self-centering cross-gate bias springs with heat treated spring seats
  • Glass-reinforced polyamide fulcrum socket with steel wear clips
  • Rubber oil control seal with steel retaining ring
  • CNC-machined aluminum housing
  • Laser-cut steel lid
