Short throw shifter kit for OE replacement on 5 speed manual trans in:

  • 1988–1994 Ford Ranger (North America, all except 2.9L V6 before 1991)
  • 1988–1994 Ford Aerostar

  • 1991–1994 Ford Explorer Sport
  • 1991-1994 Mazda Navajo
  • 1994 Mazda B-series pickup (North America)

ONLY FITS Mazda R1 (M5OD-R1) manual trans produced BEFORE 1995 - trans code "M"

  • Stock stub for this model has an overall length of ~4 5/8" w/ 2 3/4" below gasket
    • IF your transmission has been serviced or changed, it MAY REQUIRE A DIFFERENT BASE. If you install the wrong one it will not work properly and could cause damage. To confirm, remove shifter stub and measure
  • Does NOT FIT 2.9L V6, Bronco II, newer models, F-150, or any other model
  • IF YOU HAVE A 2"+ BODY LIFT (frame spacers) - upgrade to stick #0090: +$10

Kit includes a Hurst chrome stick (# 4106) & classic knob, Core Shifters base, gasket, mounting hardware, dust cover boot, and installation instructions. Bulk parts; no retail pkg. Due to the tall factory console boot, a Hurst Super Boot is suggested (optional upgrade, additional charge). Throw is reduced by ~ 42%. Comparable to Hurst # ending in 5020 but in a custom housing

The base is built by Core Shifters using proven Hurst Billet Plus components inside a custom housing:

  • Heat-treated billet steel gear selector stub
  • Hardened steel cross-pin & glass-reinforced polyamide fulcrum pivot ring
  • Self-centering cross-gate bias springs with heat treated spring seats
  • CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum housing with steel wear clips
  • Zinc-plated laser-cut steel cover
